What is Form V Part A?
Form V Part A of the Indian Boiler Regulations, 2026 is the steel maker's certificate of manufacture and results of tests, prescribed under regulation 8(d). Under the Indian Boiler Regulations, 1950 it was Form IV (steel maker's certificate of manufacture and results of test).
Who issues and signs Form V Part A?
The steel maker. A Well-known steel maker recognised by the Central Boilers Board can issue it in place of an Inspecting Authority certificate.
What does Form V Part A record?
- Charge numbers, plate or bar numbers, and the number and dimensions of plates tested
- Chemical analysis
- Ultimate tensile strength in kg/mm², percentage elongation and gauge length
- Bend and other tests, their results and dates
When is Form V Part A filed, and with what?
Goes with the registration application (regulation 8(d)); the owner keeps it for the boiler's life (regulation 308). Where the original certificate also covers plates used elsewhere, an extract signed by the boiler maker and countersigned by the Inspecting Authority is accepted instead.
What changed for Form V Part A from IBR 1950?
Under IBR 1950 this was Form IV, which gave tensile breaking strength in tons; IBR 2026 asks for ultimate tensile strength in kilograms per square millimetre.
