Form X: Provisional order under section 14 of the Boilers Act, 2025
The order that lets a newly inspected boiler be used before its registration and certificate are complete.

What is Form X?
Form X of the Indian Boiler Regulations, 2026 is the provisional order under section 14 of the Boilers Act, 2025, prescribed under regulation 300(2). Under the Indian Boiler Regulations, 1950 it was Form V (provisional order under section 9 of the boilers act, 1923).
Who issues and signs Form X?
The Inspector, after inspecting the boiler and conducting the hydraulic test.
What does Form X record?
- Who may use the boiler, its registry number and rating, maker and maker's number
- The design pressure in kg/cm² (g) at which it may be used
- That it lapses six months from its date, pending the issue or refusal of a certificate
When is Form X filed, and with what?
Issued during registration. If its requirements aren't met, fresh orders can be issued for up to six months more, and not beyond twelve months from the first (regulation 300(3)).
What changed for Form X from IBR 1950?
Under IBR 1950 and the Boilers Act, 1923 this was Form V, under section 9 of that Act.
